Bosa, the most important centre in Planargia, is a picturesque town situated in an important position along the banks of the River Temo. It offers visitors coming from Macomer a fascinating and scenic view. An epigraph documents the presence of a Phoenician-Carthaginian colony near the mouth of the river, nothing else is known about this settlement. The Roman town rose higher than the probable Phoenician centre in area called 'Calmeda' where S.Peter's cathedral was later built.When the Malaspina's castle was built (1112) the city moved to the opposite bank of the Temo.
